The ‘Science and Business’ workshop provided an interactive platform to discuss real-life business cases in the life sciences and medical technology industry. Participants included students of Utrecht University (master ‘Science and Business’) and VU University Amsterdam (master ‘Management, Entrepreneurship and Policy Analysis in Health and Life Sciences’). We explained essential elements for every successful business (e.g. intellectual property, reimbursement, regulations) and how to determine the appropriate business model for your innovation. Furthermore, we discussed dilutive and non-dilutive options to fund the route to market. The students expressed that they had acquired a better understanding of the steps involved in setting up a business in the Health and Life Sciences industry.
